- Inspect the shocks and struts for leaks, and check the bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends and sway bar links for play.
- Road test where the symptom is a noise or a handling complaint rather than something visible.
- Quote for the parts that are actually worn, in the order they matter.
- Align the vehicle afterwards — any steering or suspension replacement changes the geometry.
